As we grow older, the cycle of new skin growth slows, and less collagen and elastin are produced. This results in fine lines, wrinkles and dark spots (pigmentation). Applying creams and serums on your face may succeed to moisturize the outer layer of dead skin, but no penetration takes place to the living part of the skin. The active molecules are too large to pass through the ultra-protective outer layer or the epidermis layer.
This is where Microneedling introduces micro injuries which trigger the body’s natural healing process to release growth factors for the production of new collagen and elastin that we lose as we age.
The micro injuries trigger the body’s natural healing process to create the appearance of newer looking skin. In combination with medical grade skin care, effective mineral sunblock and health food choices, Microneedling is definitely an option to correct and maintain vibrant, radiant skin.
Microneedling helps promote:
- Anti-aging
- Smoother, more radiant skin
- Brighter complexion
- Hydration
- Minimizes the appearance of pores
- Production of collagen and elastin
- Tightening of skin
- Minimizing the appearance of wrinkles
How does Microneedling work?
A Microneedling pen device is used with a selected grouping of needles which create tiny micro-channels on the surface of the skin. These tiny micro-channels stimulate a healing response in the skin that stimulates the production of collagen and elastin. Having more collagen and elastin causes the skin to become firmer, reduces scars gradually, and smooths wrinkles over time. Microneedling targets skin texture more than eliminating the excess skin laxity that accompanies normal aging.
A series of at least three treatments 4 weeks apart is recommended for optimal results. Topical anesthesia is applied before the procedure for comfort during the Microneedling. There is minimal down time after this procedure. A maintenance schedule will be discussed to promote lasting results.
